Fix Your Broken Honey Bee King One Way Bearing

Last Updated: 2007-08-01

A few weeks ago I read a post from somebody on RC groups.com who's main gear would spin both ways after a crash ..... I had the same experience today and I might have found a fix.

I crashed my Honey Bee King v2 helicopter today while practicing nose in and slow 360s but I underestimated the wind. Most of the damage was done by the motor still spinning for 8 seconds, due to inertia, while the heli was already resting peacefully on the ground. Thanks Castle Creations for disabling brake functions while in heli mode

Anyway, I took the heli apart and noticed that the one way bearing in the main gear was now a two way bearing. I could spin the one way drive link in both directions. I noticed that the little pins inside the gear where all seated flush to the wall inside their little pockets. While trying to get them back out with a small flat head screwdriver, I manged to turn the inner ring just slightly by about 1-2mm clockwise. This pushed the little rods back out and the gear locks again. I'm not sure how long it will hold but it works fine now.

This might be helpful if you don't have another gear or if you are like me, the other two gears are factory bent.
