Windows XP error message: You might not have permission to use this network resource

I have seen about 3 Computers so far which will not allow you to connect to their network shares but the computer can connect to others just fine.

I have also noticed that all the computers have Norton Internet Security or Anti virus installed.

I found the fix for it. Apparently a registry key is changed which blocks the default anonymous access.

Fix:
- Open your registry editor, (Start => Run => regedit)
- Locate the Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA
And look for RestrictAnonymous which is probably set to 2, change it to 0
- Reboot and try again, should work now.

NOTE: I have only tried this after I have uninstalled the Norton Product, if you have problems, remove your Firewall and Anti virus software first, apply the fix, then reinstall them.

Other Config Options:
0 - Allow anonymous users
1 - Restrict anonymous users
2 - Allow users with explicit anonymous permissions
